Molly Vs The Machines live on Channel 4
March 25, 2026Feature Documentary Molly vs The Machines unveils the tragic story behind a teenager driven to take her life by machines that were built to control people for profit. The Film exposes a global system of power that reaches into our children’s bedrooms from the boardrooms of today’s most powerful companies. It uses the Coroner’s inquest into the death of Molly Russell as a portal into understanding the two decade rise to power of Surveillance Capitalism and its threat to democracy.
Directed and shot by Marc Silver, it was in cinemas 1st & 2nd March before heading to Channel 4 where it is available for the rest of the month. It was produced by Kat Mansoor of Snowstorm Productions, with support from Emma Norton as Production Manager, Co-Produced by Natalie Humphreys of Storyboard Studios. It also has UK Distribution through Cosmic Cat, Glasgow.
Molly’s Father Ian Russell, founder and chair of the Molly Rose Foundation, is featured in the documentary. The foundations’ aim is suicide prevention, targeted towards young people under the age of 25 and is and is calling for the Prime Minister to champion stronger legislations that challenge the business models of Big Tech to break the cycle of these intolerable but entirely preventable tragedies.
