Folk horror feature film The Severed Sun is being released by Dark Sky Films in North America on 16th May 2025 via limited theatrical release and will also be available on video on demand platforms.  Dean Puckett marks this as his debut feature film as a writer/director, after a string of successful short films. Puckett’s vision was brought to life with producers Rebecca Wolff (Grasp the nettle Films)  and Jude Goldrei (Lunar lander Films) as well as by Cinematographer Ian Forbes.

The Severed Sun follows Magpie (Emma Appleton) who lives in an isolated church community ruled over by her father (Toby Stephens), The Pastor. But when a man is murdered, paranoia sets in and people start to whisper about a strange ‘Beast’ that lives in the forest.

OnSight’s post production team was made up of Andy Lee as Colourist, Adam Sample as Online editor, Andy Coles  Re-recording Mixer completing the final mix and Jeff Halsey as Post producer.
