November 20, 2020Big Deal Films and Studio 71 have delivered orders, with a little help from OnSight, as part of the BBC’s Talking Heads-style teen monologues. The monologue series comes out of the BBC Spark initiative, which is an in-house team that helps the Corporation think differently about the way they work and change it for the better, particularly around themes of diversity.
Commissioned by BBC Children’s, the short films OnSight have provided post for are Big Deal Films, ‘SHAPES’ directed by Ethan McDowell, Producers by Mustapha Kseibati and Executive Producer Dhanny Joshi. Shapes follows a gobby, disruptive girl called Cassie Jenks who visits an art gallery on a school trip with the intention of bunking off, but is surprised to find something there that cuts through the noise of her life and connects with her.
‘SPARKLERS’ directed by Ellie Rogers, produced by Mustapha Kseibati and Executive Produced by Dhanny Joshi, Holly shares her first kiss with cool, confident Ava, and recalls the puzzle pieces of her past that suddenly slot into place now that she’s honest with herself.
Studio71 show The Main Part is about a young girl with Anglo-Indian heritage who dreams of being an actor but learns about the realities of being typecast. Directed Rosie Westhoff by produced by Sara Huxley
