The ONSIGHT team moves from its home of almost 20 years in Berners Street, W1 to a central London facility off St Martin's Lane, WC2. The new "state-of-the-art" post production facility features both 4K and 3D projection suites.
With the team’s commitment to technologies and techniques, ONSIGHT will now offer clients a true 4K cinema viewing experience. This complements its existing creative and technical end-to-end solutions in the format.
ONSIGHT’s 4K projection room is being built around a new BARCO DP 4K projector, supplied by Sound Associates, the first of its kind installed in a post facility.
Simon Craddock, CEO of ONSIGHT, says, “ONSIGHT has always had the reputation of being a pioneer within our industry - our new facility takes this to a different level. We have a great deal of 4K experience from shoot all the way to post. It’s a workflow we are very familiar with by having the expertise in both our post and camera divisions. We are excited about the relocation and expect the facility to be completed towards the end of April.”
The new building investment also encompasses a RealD 3D projection suite, following ONSIGHT’s award-winning stereoscopic 3D work. The bespoke design, over 2 floors, will further enhance the company’s full post production services, improving efficiency and flexibility for clients and the demands of increased data.
The relocation has also come ahead of ONSIGHT’s 25th anniversary this year. The company was founded in 1989 and the expansion this spring additionally means the team is currently looking to recruit some new creative talent in post.
ONSIGHT continues its work in HD, 3D and 4K across the business. Its camera department operates out of Shepperton Studios, having moved into a larger premises at the site in November 2011.
One of the first 4K projects to be delivered in the new building is Walking With Dinosaurs for BBC Earth, involving the company’s digital remastering service for Giant Screen. Recent ONSIGHT productions in 4K include Peter Gabriel’s Back to Front (Done and Dusted/Real World/Eagle Rock Entertainment), Paul Smith’s A Day in the Life of a Fashion Show (Sony) and the recently BAFTA Award-nominated David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive 3D (Colossus Productions).
