ONSIGHT works on back to back documentaries for ITV

02nd June, 2014

Congratulations is added to Oxford Scientific Films and Director Barny Revill for Secret Life of Babies!  It made The Griersons' Shortlist 2015, the illustrious British Documentary Awards, for Best Science or Natural History Documentary.  See the full line-up so far and timetable of key announcements here.

Continuing our work on documentary projects, the ONSIGHT team has supplied the cameras, lenses and equipment on two back to back projects for Oxford Scientific Films (OSF) – the award-winning producer of contemporary factual, natural history, science and history production.

Secret Life of Cats and Secret Life of Babies premiered on 2 and 3 June respectively, as 1 x 1 hour films with wide appeal for ITV1. Narrated by Martin Clunes, the former focuses on the complex biology and nature of domestic cats and the latter centres on the first few years of our lives, critical to development.

ONSIGHT’s camera division provided RED Epics, Zeiss Super Speeds and auxiliary kit. Both films were shot on location around the UK and in a studio environment with DoP Simon Reay ONSIGHT also supplied an Optex Excellence Probe, allowing Production to capture a variety of up close shots, which was essential to the story and surprising fact telling. Special filming techniques, such as slow motion and thermal imagery, were also involved. Production Manager Anna Brett, across the two projects at OSF, commented, “ONSIGHT provided a fantastic service from the consulting and booking process right through to the quality of the kit.”

These films, from Exec Producer Alice Keens-Soper, follow the popular Secret Life of Dogs, where ONSIGHT collaborated with OSF once again.
