ONSIGHT to give BBC's Mr Stink the 3D treatment

11th October, 2012

The team is thrilled to facilitate the BBC's Mr. Stink in both 3D and 2D.  The new project is shooting in the UK, starring Hugh Bonneville, Sheridan Smith and Johnny Vegas.  From this week's Broadcast Magazine, details of our involvement are announced as seen here.

ONSIGHT is providing cameras and stereoscopic post-production services for Mr Stink, the BBC’s first scripted 3D programme.

The facilities provider is supplying 3ality Technica Atom and P+S Technik Freestyle rigs, with Red Epic cameras and Angenieux Optimo matched lenses for the adaptation of David Walliams’ children’s book, which started shooting this week.

Alongside the equipment, ONSIGHT will provide post services, with the conform, online edit, depth grade and colour grade to be completed using the firm’s Mistika systems.

ONSIGHT chief operating officer Andy Shelley said the 2D show would be derived from the 3D footage.

“It makes sense in terms of efficiency and for budgetary purposes,” he said.

“Gone are the days where it would be considered a lethargic edit; people are treating 3D with the same sort of pace as 2D.”

The stereographer is Matt Smith with stereo supervision from Chris Parks, both from Vision 3.
