Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards Premieres in NY and LA

29th September, 2017

Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards lets you in behind the scenes to see the magic that goes on to create the world’s most sought after shoes. The documentary about the life of Manolo Blahnik, the genius creator that revolutionized footwear design, brings historic footage to the big screen and exclusive one-on-one interviews with the biggest names in fashion, like Anna Wintour or Rihanna.

Growing up on a remote Spanish Canary island, Manolo made shoes out of sweet wrappers for lizards that he caught in his family’s garden.

After opening his first store in London in 1973 and coming of age in fashion capitals such as Paris and New York, Manolo now has shops and department store concessions in over 20 countries and retains full control of the business, still creating every shoe, even hand-carving the wooden forms himself.

Manolo was edited in our suites and Onsight worked with 1212 productions throughout the whole finishing process of the film, which included post audio and deliverables.

The film was released in the US, both in New York and in Los Angeles, on September 15 and made its debut with a special screening and a Cinema Society celebration, held at the Frick Collection, attended by Manolo himself.
