Galapagos with David Attenborough, Mr Stink and Little Crackers are some of the well known productions, featured at the inaugural 3D Creative Summit (3D CS). ONSIGHT has worked on each of those titles and is a proud sponsor of this inaugural event.
Produced by Ravensbourne and the 3D International Society, the event takes place on 27 and 28 March at the BFI Southbank. It celebrates the best 3D films and television programmes of the past year through exclusive screenings and in-depth Q&As from behind the scenes with some of the industry's leading contributors.
This impressive group of international speakers continues to grow. Academy Award-Winning Director Ang Lee talks in an exclusive interview live from New York about the acclaimed Life of Pi and also shares his post-Oscar thoughts for the future. Other high profile people include Sir David Attenborough, Anthony Geffen (Atlantic Productions), John Cassy (Sky), Kim Shillinglaw (BBC), Steve Schklair (3ality Technica) Chris Parks (Vision3) and Robert Neuman (Disney Animation). ONSIGHT was also asked to speak on expert panels. ONSIGHT's Chief Technical Officer has been working in both the film and broadcast worlds for over 25 years and on day one, he discusses 'Future 3DTV: 4K, Glasses-Free and Beyond!' with Chris Johns (Sky) and Andy Quested (BBC), moderated by journalist Adrian Pennington. Day Two sees our Chief Operating Officer, Andy Shelley who has overseen a number of our landmark 3D projects, speaking about '3D Post — Quicker, Smarter, Easier' with Geoff Mills (SGO) and Editor David Wigram, led by 3D Focus' Jonathan Tustain.
ONSIGHT is delighted to be involved in two further areas of the programme. Andy Shelley reappears to conduct a workshop within the 'Producers Lab', alongside ONSIGHT's Senior Producer Tony Maher. Here, our team will assist Producers with their knowledge and skills on creating content in 3D. ONSIGHT's extensive experience working in this format from cameras to post has also led us to manage the Rig Zone, where the latest 3D camera rigs and technlogy will be displayed and demoed, officially from 10:30am, 1pm and 3:30pm across the two days.
Other event highlights include A Liar's Autobiography, Inside the Mind of Leonardo, both assisted by ONSIGHT and the newly released Jack The Giant Slayer.
All of this has been made possible by the sponsors, media partner Screen International and ultimately Creative Skillset. Their Head of Film, Dan Simmons, says, “We are delighted to fund the 3D Creative Summit which ensures the UK is recognised as a global hub for creative 3D production.”
Simon Craddock, CEO, adds, "With 3D acceptance in the cinema and now entering the home, just as the change from black & white to colour, quality 3D is an irresistible force.
The 3D Creative Summit looks set to be a fascinating and entertaining event for the world of 3D.
