ONSIGHT helps to reveal BBC's 'Hidden Kingdoms' Date: 15th January, 2014

Hidden Kingdoms is the revealing, new series from the BBC Natural History Unit, which explores the worlds of tiny creatures across continents.  With the first episode airing on Thursday 16 January, ONSIGHT is thrilled to have provided 4K camera facilities.

The 3-part BBC One series demonstrates a new approach to natural history filmmaking, by adding drama and comedy to this educational format.  Based on real behaviour, some sequences involve reconstruction and camera solutions that shoot from the perspective of mice, beetles and the likes, in order to capture these tiny and fast lives.  The filming was extensive and logistically demanding.  Production focused on immersing the viewer, travelling to locations that included North America and Africa.  See more here from the BBC.

The production team also shot in 3D, in view of future deliverables, including a Giant Screen version, fully supported by ONSIGHT.

Hidden Kingdoms is narrated by Stephen Fry and Episode 1, Under Open Skies, can be seen on BBC One at 8PM.

Plus, Hidden Kingdoms was Realscreen's MIPCOM Picks 2013 Best in Show.
