'Breakfast with Jonny Wilkinson' kicks off in cinemas, post produced at ONSIGHT Date: 20th November, 2013

Based on the hit stage play, Breakfast with Jonny Wilkinson is a new film that revisits the memorable day when England took on Australia in the Rugby World Cup 2003.  Its theatrical release marks the 10-year anniversary of England’s victory on 22 November 2013.

ONSIGHT provided full post production on the project for Breakfast Films Limited, directed by Simon Sprackling and produced by Rob Perren. The team managed the data captured in South London, supplying DIT equipment and offline facilities. DoP Jonathan Iles says, “The film was shot using the RED Epic, giving us the ability to shoot 5K but importantly, a lot of slow motion still at such a high resolution. ONSIGHT was there to help us in every step of the way, offering daily reports on rushes and round the clock assistance.”

ONSIGHT Colourist Andy Lee graded the project, creating a filmic look to capture the drama and atmosphere of the scenes, predominantly shot in a rugby club.  Due to this main location, treating the contrast levels was particularly important.  Lee not only worked with RED footage, but broadcast archive as well, in order to meet the storytelling requirements.  For the online VFX, a series of dream sequences were stylised by ONSIGHT’s Miguel Caamano Riveiro and online editing support came from the company’s David Gonzalez Lozano.  At their Soho facility, Andy Coles composed the original music and provided audio post.  ONSIGHT delivered a DCP package and the trailer for the film.

The comedy stars Nigel Lindsay, Norman Pace and talented newcomer George MacKay.  At Greyhawks Rugby Club, they're preparing to watch this momentous sporting event on TV. But there's trouble brewing. In the bar, the authority of club chairman Dave (Norman Pace) is challenged by loud and brash Australian coach Matt (Michael Beckley). Meanwhile out on the pitch, team prodigy Jake (George MacKay) seems to enjoy some kind of strange telepathy with the great Jonny Wilkinson! Chris England's wry follow up to his hit 'An Evening with Gary Lineker' is set against the backdrop of that legendary game in which Wilkinson scored the winning drop-goal.
