More award recognition across ONSIGHT projectsDate: 3rd August, 2013

Last week saw a whole raft of award nominations announced for film and television. ONSIGHT is thrilled to have contributed to a number of the successful productions.

Meerkats 3D is an award-winning film, produced by Oxford Scientific Films in association with Principal Large Format for National Geographic and Sky.  It's latest accolade comes from the GSCA 2013 Film Awards, where the title is nominated for not one, but five of the possible categories - Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, Best Original Score, Best Film for Lifelong Learning, and Best Film-Short Subject.  ONSIGHT provided full cameras, equipment and post production for Giant Screen.  The results will be given in mid September, as part of GSCA’s 2013 International Conference and Trade Show.  More info to come on this event.

Grierson 2013: The British Documentary Awards have been revealed and Sir David Attenborough is shortlisted for Best Documentary Presenter. This is specifically for his work on the award-winning Kingdom of Plants 3D and the critically acclaimed Galapagos 3D, in line with Atlantic Productions and Colossus Productions. ONSIGHT has been a key partner in both projects, providing cameras and post production on the 3D and 2D versions for Sky. Inside the Mind of Leonardo (3D) is also nominated under Best Arts Documentary with Director Julian Jones for IWC Media. ONSIGHT’s camera department offered cameras, equipment and 3D supervision during the shoot. The docudrama stars Peter Capaldi and first aired on Sky. The Grierson Awards acknowledge and celebrate pioneering, thought-provoking documentaries across the globe. The ceremony takes place in November.

On Friday, the finalists for the 11th biennual Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival were published. SK Films’ acclaimed Flight of the Butterflies in 3D has been nominated twice. ONSIGHT’s Lab & Post department provided stereoscopic finishing on the film from their Soho facility. The piece has been recognised for Best Theatrical Programme and Best Immersive 3D / Large Format. In that last category, Kingdom of Plants 3D is also a strong contender. The nominees were chosen from 540 films and the winners will be named after the five-day industry conference in the States on 26 September.

Congratulations to all of our clients and everyone involved!
