London Film School

22nd December, 2020

For several years OnSight has been supporting the London Film School (LFS) in providing insight and services around finishing post-production and especially around audio expertise.

Working with the LFS emerging creative talent, OnSight is investing in the industry future, helping the LFS film-makers hone their craft and engage directly with the UK industry.

This years’ technology developments have included running remote sound sessions via Source connect expanding the tools and experience of the students as well as demonstrating some real-world ‘needs must’ variation.

In particular OnSight has developed detailed post production sessions with our highly experienced Senior Colourist Andy Lee and Dubbing Mixer Andy Coles.

Peter Hollywood, Head of Editing at LFS, has been co-ordinating the student projects and sessions at OnSight. LFS students attend our post house to work on coursework, short documentaries and drama projects and we have often welcomed them back as Alumni for their short films and career projects and even in one case as a staff position.

It is always warming to meet the next new creatives in the industry and give them an opportunity to work on their films in a professional setting with experienced industry experts.

Knuckledust - Featuristic Films in association with OnSight

25th November, 2020

“It has been an absolute joy and pleasure to go into the post production battle with Onsight by my side. From the very beginning Tony Maher was so supportive and subsequently his entire team went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed and most importantly everything the film needed. Always kind, always courteous, always a smile on the faces of everyone I had the good opportunity to work with. No job too big, never a job too small. There is not a post skill that this team does not possess. What a total privilege it has been to finish Knuckledust off in style with the legends that are Onsight. I can’t wait for an audience to see our finished collaboration” James Kermack, Director

Samuel Goldwyn Films has announced that they will release James Kermack’s feature film KNUCKLEDUST in the UK on the 11th December.

This gritty action caper is written & directed by James Kermack with producers Julien Loeffler & Fabrice Smadja at Featuristic Films and is co-produced by Laurent Fumeron, Daniel Goroshko and Rodolphe Sanzé from The Project and Cinematography by Pat Aldinger.

The film is being made in association with OneWorld Entertainment, Trigger Films and Head Gear Films.

When a special police task force kicks open the doors of the elite underground fight den - Club Knuckledust, they are faced with seven levels of hell. Each floor filled with the dead bodies of fighters, assassins and goons from across the globe! Amidst the carnage they find just one beaten and bloodied man still breathing - Hard Eight. With a shady Government official en route to take him away, Chief Inspector Katherine Keaton and her team have ninety minutes to interrogate and find out if Hard Eight is the lone survivor or a multiple murderer. With lies flying from everyone's mouths and corruption becoming apparent, Keaton starts to wonder "Who is the real criminal?”.

Director James Kermack was adamant he wanted "a merging of the old and new, a visual that has the classic American 70’s/80’s cult film vibe, smashed up with a high end, bold and striking modern style. As soon as I saw Pats cinematography, I knew that together we could create the brutal beauty the world of Knuckledust needed" - James Kermack, Director

Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards

18th November, 2020

Huge Congratulations to Infinity Hill, GCB films and OnSight for being shortlisted for 'Innovative Use of Technology in Storytelling' for the Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards!

Producers are Phin Glynn, Victor Glynn and Georgia Tennant. David Tennant and Michael Sheen executive produce. Executive producers for Infinity Hill are Axel Kuschevatzky and Cindy Teperman and for GCB, Geoff Iles.

The category ‘Staged’ is nominated for is all about how technology is used through storytelling. Staged is filmed by self-shooting, video conference technology and a voice app which was then sent to the editors, as well as Tennant and Sheen portraying lockdown at the expense of their own dignity. The cast also includes actor Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg, Tennant and Sheen’s partners in real-life, as well as some special guests.

The Offline Editing was completed via Avid; and once handed to OnSight via an AAF, it was decided to Online and Grade with Da Vinci Resolve as it has full functionality for a project like this. The Online involved linking back to the high resolution footage, which was difficult considering the webcam sources, but with the final result, after the Grade had been applied, it was the storyline that really carried this project to the winning line.
