ONSIGHT wins Hollywood award for VR

01st October, 2015

ONSIGHT has been awarded a Hollywood award by the Advanced Imaging Society (AIS) for its virtual reality (VR) system. The 6th Annual 2015 Technology and New Products Awards took place at Paramount Pictures Studios on 30 September and acknowledges high technical achievement in the industry.

"This year’s honorees reflected the changing nature of media and entertainment," said Society Awards Chair, Buzz Hays, Studio Chief, True Image Company. “Virtual Reality, light field image capture, faster software and game platform advancements are taking VR into the market quickly,” he stated.

The team received a Lumiere statuette for its technology, a 4K virtual reality capture system that incorporates 360-degree filming.  Associated projects have come from the music and entertainment genres.

CEO Simon Craddock was joined by CTO Richard Mills to accept the award at the special luncheon.  He remarked, “We are proud to have won this prestigious award from the Advanced Imaging Society. VR is a natural progression for us from the shoot through to post, following our stereo 3D and 4K work on landmark productions. It’s an exciting format, offering real promise."

On the same day, AIS held its annual “ConTech” Seminar in Hollywood on High Dynamic Range and Virtual Reality. Richard Mills contributed to the panel of key content professionals and executives, focusing on the next generation of content technologies to come in 2016.
