02nd August, 2013
The inaugural Prudential RideLondon is a two-day cycling festival on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 August. ONSIGHT is delighted to be involved in this mass sports event, deemed a legacy of the 2012 Games and a celebration of cycling in the UK.
The ONSIGHT team is providing Avid solutions, in addition to a number of Sony XDCAM decks, including the PDW-U2. To ensure the kit is monitored on such a time critical job, one of our Engineers is on hand to offer technical support throughout. This sees us collaborate once more with one of the leading outside broadcast companies, NEP Visions.
The Wimbledon Championships is another world-class fixture in the capital and this year’s tournament brought ONSIGHT back to the All England Club for another year. The team supplied and supported extensive non-linear editing systems with storage and asset management.
Days ahead of the competition, our Engineers installed Avid equipment, including Interplay and ISIS as well as HP Z820 workstations. Working alongside Visions for US broadcaster ESPN, ONSIGHT Edit Rental delivered 24-hour technical support and daily reports for tight turnaround edits. During the 2 weeks, ESPN provided coverage and exciting highlights of the tennis.
It was an especially memorable championship when on one of the hottest days of the year, Andy Murray beat Novak Djokovic in a grueling straight set match to become the Men’s Singles Champion, breaking that 77-year wait for a British winner. More history was made at Wimbledon and the full results are listed on the official website.
The summer is full of other sporting events and is taking the Edit Rental division abroad. We have been working on the 2013 (15th FINA) World Championships for Aquatics in Barcelona with asset management tools from Avid plus full technical support. The 2013 (IAAF) World Championships in Athletics is also in the pipeline, where we’re offering similar editing facilities in Moscow.
Music events are also a significant part of the summer schedule. Lovebox Festival saw its biggest year yet in East London and the team supplied FCP systems for ingesting and editing data with full EDS integration. In early July, ONSIGHT was thrilled to supply a series of decks for both of The Rolling Stones’ well documented Hyde Park concerts. Simultaneously, ONSIGHT delivered Avid shared storage and complementary kit for the well known T in the Park, which saw Mumford and Sons, Rihanna and many more acts headline. V Festival is next.
