'David Attenborough's Natural History Museum Alive' receives a Royal Premiere & breathes its way to Sky on New Year's Day

19th December, 2013

David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive is the new groundbreaking film from Colossus Productions, a collaboration between Sky 3D and Atlantic Productions to produce innovative 3D projects. ONSIGHT is a proud facility partner, providing cameras and post for the project that sees the iconic presenter explore the museum, locked in at night to reveal a fascinating selection of extinct creatures brought back to life through CGI.

As part of the film's launch, London's landmark Natural History Museum hosted the world premiere on 11 December. The special night was attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Sir David Attenborough, key members of the production industry, Sky staff, Museum supporters, investors and ONSIGHT CEO Simon Craddock.  The 3D film was screened, bringing to life dinosaurs, ice age beasts and giant reptiles, followed by a fascinating Q&A.

ONSIGHT supplied cameras, rigs and accessories for the 4K 3D pipeline, working closely with DoP Tim Cragg, Stereographer Chris Parks, Director Daniel M. Smith and team.  ONSIGHT also provided extensive data management, online and finishing services to deliver the film in both 3D and 2D.

This new project marks the sixth collaboration with Sir David Attenborough and Anthony Geffen for Atlantic Productions and Sky 3D, as well as ONSIGHT.  Their first 3D project together was the award-winning Flying Monsters.

David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive is a 90-minute documentary film conceptualized, written and presented by the renowned naturalist.  It airs on Sky 3D and Sky 1 HD at 6.30PM on 1 January 2014.
